Rob’s Biog

Rob Carlton has been a professional actor since he was 14 years old. A recognised face in Australia for both comedy and drama, his credits span TV, film and theatre.

In February 2006 Rob won SONY TROPFEST with CARMICHAEL and Shane which he wrote, starred in, co-directed and co-produced. Rob was also lead actor in the film HOW MANY DOCTORS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHTBULB that won BEST COMEDY at the festival. Rob won BEST ACTOR at the festival for his performances in these two films; the first time ever an actor has appeared in two finalist films. CARMICHAEL and Shane has since been invited to many festivals around the world.

Rob’s television production company, ShadowfaxTV, has just produced its first major production, 8 half hours of narrative comedy, CHANDON PICTURES, for The Movie Network Channels in Australia. He co-directed the project with Alex Weinress, his CARMICHAEL and Shane collaborator and Rob also takes creator, writer and acting credits in the series. Lionsgate has just secured worldwide distribution rights for the series.

As a writer, Rob has written two feature films for which he’s been paid although both now languish in

 

   

development. His play A-Framed was first produced by his production company in 1998 to critical and box office success. A-Framed has since been produced in Sydney and Melbourne by different theatre companies. Rob is also an ambassador for the Dymocks Literacy Foundation

  • Had his heart removed by the side of the road on All Saints.
  • Been trampled on by horses and women in Mcleod’s daughters.
  • Had his gender swapped in the feature film ‘Strange Bedfellows’.
  • Blew himself into a thousand pieces on Blue Heelers.

Rob lives with his wife and twin boys, Leo and Jim, at a beautiful beach an hour and a half north of Sydney, Australia.
